Healthy Hot Chololate Alternative

(Starbucks Mug, Hersheys Cocoa, Williams Sonoma Whisk)

I have been going vegan/vegetarian  for almost a week now. No judgements because I have always been a meat lover but due to health reasons I need to change my diet. I gave up coffee, black teas, green tea only in the morning, no milk, no sugar, NO FUN.... I was needing a little pick me up this afternoon. Too late for green tea I was having a coffee craving for something sweet and chocolately. I opted to make my own concotion - enter Healthy Hot Cocoa!

Ingredients:
6 oz. Fresh Almond Milk
2 Spoonfuls of Hersheys Cocoa Powder
1-2 Spoonfuls of Xylitol Sweetener (Stevia is wonderful too- but use waaaayyy less)
Small Pan
Whisk
Mug
Chocolate Cravings

Directions:
1. Place pan on stove pour in ingredients.
2. Heat on low for short amount of time - you don't want to kill the raw enzymes in your raw milk.
3. Whisk ingredients until well blended. Remove from heat. Pour into a mug and enjoy!

*** You can always add in your favorite flavoring in the form of extract. Use peppermint for a peppermint hot chocolate or butterscotch, raspberry, butter rum extracts are all wonderful too!

It is no Nestles Cocoa with Marshmallows BUT it killed the sugar-chocolately craving that was nagging me since 3:30pm today. By no means is this the best choice but I consider this to be a healthy alternative to my normal peppermint mocha.

  1. I love homemade hot cocoa a lot better than the powdered stuff. You know... they make vegan marshmallows. I have never had them before but I have heard of them. :o)
